斌京人民共和国 — People's Republic of Binjing, led by the Communist Party of Binjing

Binjing began as a feudal province under the rule of a Duke. The first duchy was characterised by expansion: south, east into Uptown, and north, taking two islands from New Transvaalgrad.

The Duke devolved authority to a People's Council of five voices. Members attended sessions without contributing, the body lost its purpose, and the duchy fractured. The episode is cited ever since as evidence that attendance without labour hollows out institutions.

The Duke resumed personal rule and governed through an appointed Executive Council for some seven weeks, its membership shifting as it went. In that time the Duchy annexed the northern territories of Uptown, disbanded cabinet wages, moved to charge property tax by plot size, and set the Binton Experience Farm going.

The democratic council's failure to achieve even a single result shows that democracy is not workable for Binton.

Ducal Decree, 18 November 2024

Binjing turned communist. The Duke gave his blessing to the Party, which rebuilt the territory and renamed Binton as Binjing. The office of Premier is the direct successor to the ducal title.

Every building torn down and the province excavated to bedrock. Nearly half the membership was lost. The rebuild revived engagement, and Binjing — by now the largest province on Alinea — opened to the public.

One year of Binjing, marked with a province-wide parade. Attendance was huge, there was music, and fireworks lit the sky.

Potato Town agreed to full and unconditional annexation and its territory was renamed the Binjiang Region. Under the #PaintItRed campaign, LU-N, LU-6, LU-V and the original villagery were demolished and a new Binjiang district raised in their place, with three new Local Units and a new villagery.
